Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Board (BPAB) and others:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Two and Alert Today Florida are hosting a Gainesville Stop on Red event:
Intersection of University Avenue and 13th Street
Thursday, August 5, 2021
10:00 AM until 12 Noon
This event, which supports National Stop on Red Week, is devoted to educating drivers about the dangers of red light running and to reduce the number and severity of intersection crashes. Across the nation the reckless act of red-light running claims the lives of innocent victims on a daily basis.
In 2020, there were 14,321 red light running crashes in Florida. As a result of these crashes, 682 mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, friends and co-workers were seriously injured and 97 more lost their lives. These injuries and losses were completely preventable!
Please reply via email or phone [352-393-8493] if you would like to help with this event. Thank you for considering joining in on the effort to improve the safety of everyone in the Gainesville area and on/around the UF campus.
Instructions will be provided on-site. “CLICK HERE” for a past event news spot.
